We have started a guitar unit in music. We have built up our finger strength and tolerance for pain and can now play an easy C and Easy G7 chord. Students can show you. Mr. Filice has an CSA after school activity if your child decides to persue guitar with a teacher. This is a nice way to know if it is worth the money to put your child in guitar lessons. But sign up early...he fills up quickly.
We also learned how to play the top E string by plucking it on different frets. Starting on the 5th, 3rd, 1st and Open string to sing a long to The Cat Came Back and Hit the Road Jack (by Ray Charles). The video below is in a different key so may not sound so good if you play along with it.

Grade 4's have been so fun to work with this year. We started the year with a song that promotes the message of peace and happiness, no more fighting and wars. They love this song by a Israeli rapper named Matisyahu. The videos following are original, with lyrics and the facebook sweet family singing in gorgeous harmonies with the baby that loves music too!
